Following its bulletins of 5 May 2021 updating the New Industrial Strategy proposed in 2020, the European Commission has additional indicated that it is going to rely quite heavily on trade to deliver on the most important challenges faced by our economies and societies in Europe. This is especially the case in relation to sustainability, digital transformation, and global competitiveness, as well as the necessity to overcome the disaster provoked by the Covid-19 pandemic. The EU Recovery and Resilience Plan launched in Spring 2021 is essentially constructing on the aptitude of European industry to design and produce the constructing blocks of the twin green and digital transition. At the identical time, the EU is shaping a dense regulatory framework that doesn’t all the time support the freedom and flexibility needed for corporations to grow and compete globally.
The European technology industries, and specifically our pumps, compressors, faucets and valves sectors, have for a very long time thought of the enhancement of their world competitiveness throughout the challenges of societal and environmental challenges, notably by contributing to the preparation of power efficiency and ecolabel rules. In parallel, digitalisation has supplied elevated alternatives and brought new challenges, including debates on the appropriate regulatory stage (sharing of commercial knowledge, synthetic intelligence, cybersecurity, etc).
These developments, amidst ever extra fierce international competitors, require that public authorities and trade within the EU work increasingly extra carefully to design and deploy strategies that reinforce our competitiveness and our contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This will be the topic of the preliminary debate kicking off our Joint EU Policy Conference, which is ready to convey together key coverage makers from the three EU coverage establishments in control of the Industrial Strategy and three Executives representing and illustrating the achievements loved, and challenges still confronted, by these three key sectors of business.
Specific Technical and Policy Issues

As the regulatory panorama across Europe, and indeed the whole world, becomes ever more complicated, the burden on trade only will increase. It due to this fact falls to sector specific commerce organisations, similar to Europump, CEIR and Pneurop, to determine and advise on those technical and coverage issues most related to their respective sectors. In our particular enviornment, that relates, of course, to the manufacture, distribution and use of pumps and all pump associated tools – an enormous and necessary subset of trade, given the width and breadth of pump purposes.
Against this backdrop, one of many primary considerations when figuring out the core themes for the joint conference was to maintain a direct reference to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Within this focus, the three associations intend to spotlight how, along with the significance for firms to deal with technical features impacting their every day enterprise operations, they consider the constructive position of industry in addressing societal challenges. Indeed, all of the classes could have a technical theme matching the most acceptable UN SDG, and with illustration from the European Commission together with technical experts from business and/or research institutes, they will every be reflective of the present legislative terrain, as it pertains to pumps and pumping methods in the following key areas:
Circular Economy & Eco-design (Relevant UN Sustainable Development Goal no. 12: Responsible Consumption and Production)

Industry’s Digital Transformation and Innovation (Relevant UN Sustainable Development Goal no. 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure)

The restriction of use of supplies and substances of concern (Relevant UN Sustainable Development Goal no. 6: Clean Water and Sanitation)

The regulatory and legislative landscape across Europe is turning into increasingly complicated, and trade, in all its guises, needs to be aware and ready for what’s coming. By engaging with those commerce organisations that symbolize your best pursuits, you can hold abreast of all the compliance developments as they have an effect on your small business and the areas in which you operate.
