Rotork assists BAE Systems in naval base actuator upgrades

ไดอะแฟรม ซีล has been working with BAE Systems to upgrade a sequence of A-range actuators to IQ3 actuators which function penstocks controlling movement of ships between the ocean and transitional locks and dry docks at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth (HMNB Portsmouth).
A collection of A-range actuators had reached the tip of their operational life after long service in a challenging surroundings. BAE Systems wished to retain all the advantages of electric actuators, so IQ3 actuators were chosen. These needed to be specifically tailored by Rotork to beat issues round confined areas and difficult entry.
pressure gauge octa and IS gearboxes had been mechanically adapted in order that both actuator and gearbox might be manually operated without getting into the confined area. Rotork designed particular hand auto levers and through drive mechanisms for the actuator and gearbox to remove the need for confined area access.
Actuators throughout the IQ vary are watertight, providing ingress protection to IP66/68 at 20 m for 10 days. They have a sophisticated twin stacked display with configurable knowledge logger performance, and an absolute place sensor offers reliability and accuracy.
